Dear Friends Who Drive Cars and Have a Driver's License and 20 Bucks to Spare:
I love you. I really do. I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings, but for God's sake get out of your box!
Guess who is more likely to live in an inner city area, ride a bus, not have a driver's license, and not have twenty dollars to spare (or the time to ride the bus to the DMV and stand in line one to three hours)--a likely Democratic voter or a likely Republican voter? Riiiiggghhht!!!
Guess who tries to get polling places moved to the outskirts of poverty stricken areas-forcing poor people without personal transportation to have to travel farther by public transportation to vote--the Democratic Party or the Republican Party? Exactly! You guessed again!
And, guess who is most likely to be a Democratic voter, not to have a car, and not to have photo identification: a poor rural white or African American Democrat or a wealthy Republican voter? You are catching on so quickly--I am very proud of you!
Back in the Dark Ages when I was growing up, I knew elderly people who did not own cars and actually hitch-hiked for transportation. Yes, they did. They had virtually no cash. They had to have a ride to the polls.
Requiring photo identification is a means of voter suppression. It may be hard to imagine how or why here in the comfy small cities in the Midwest--but, that is the purpose.
There is very little "voter" fraud.
Now, if we want to talk about "voting" fraud, I'm still angry about Bush and Gore!
