Glamorous Over Paid Union Jobs

This is an older article, but I like the positive note and I like the detail. Much of the criticism of unions sounds like envy disguised as financial opinion. This article reminds us that union employees are not "welfare queens" driving "Cadillacs." Union members are being paid to do a job and they receive a compensation package. Municipal employees are not over paid and these are not glamorous jobs. I like this quote from Janesville city manager:

"Levitt said the city has a good working relationship with the city's unions, noting that members in 2010 delayed a 3 percent raise for a year.

"They decided that they would come back to the table in order to help the city at the time, even though they didn't have to," Levitt said.
