Defend Wisconsin News Round Up: Dear Worriers
Sep 22nd Walker Croquet Fundraiser Fancy Time Boat Protest
"Republicans approve of the American farmer, but they are willing to help him go broke. They stand four-square for the American home--but not for housing. They are strong for labor--but they are stronger for restricting labor's rights. They favor minimum wage--the smaller the minimum wage the better. They endorse educational opportunity for all--but they won't spend money for teachers or for schools. They think modern medical care and hospitals are fine--for people who can afford them. They consider electrical power a great blessing--but only when the private power companies get their rake-off. They think American standard of living is a fine thing--so long as it doesn't spread to all the people. And they admire of Government of the United States so much that they would like to buy it."

MAYDAY! MAYDAY! Show of support needed for union sisters and brothers of AFSCME Local 1925a. Walworth County Board meets tomorrow (Thursday, September 8) at 6 p.m. at the Walworth County Government Center (Old Courthouse) in downtown Elkhorn. Threatened are position cuts in linen/housekeeping and kitchen staff at the Walworth County Healthcare facility (formerly the Walworth County home). Some of these jobs will be oursourced to private contractors and the remaining duties added to the already overworked and overstretched nursing/CNA staff. All laundry staff gone, janitor staff gone; the lowly should not stand alone! Our elderly need proper care and won't get it if the CNA staff is dishing out meals and washing dishes. Grandma and Grandpa will be waiting to be helped to bed for their naps and will have to wait to use the bathrooms because the CNAs will be working double duty.
Walworth County and Wisconsin need good paying jobs! These workers have dedicated dozens of years to the care of our elderly and disabled.
This is not a picketing/protest action. We need to pack the room to show support! Please come and spread the word!

Because this story is not being told (truthfully) in the media, I need your help in sharing this post as widely as possible. People need to know what's going on here before it's too late. "The situation at the USPS is nothing less than the 'Wisconsinization' of the postal service, that is, it's 'an excuse to break postal unions and siphon off the profitable aspects to private enterprise.'"
Diane Hendricks of ABC Supply was thanked this summer by the Koch brothers for donating $1 million dollars to help fund their right wing agenda. If you want to know more about Hendricks, here's what a blogger from Rock County wrote waaaaay back in March.
"High concentrations of wealth aren't good for anybody, including the wealthy. They lead to social instability and a weaker economy because if the middle class had more to spend they'd spend more and stimulate the economy, growing the pie. Those at the top would be better off with a smaller share of a rapidly growing economy than a large share of one that's almost dead in the water."

As a County Board Supervisor I voted to cut compensation for County Board Supervisors. You can bet I would co-sponsor and vote for legislation to reduce pay for the US Congress.
