To Voters In State Senate Districts 12 and 22 - You Matter More Than You Think

To Voters in State Senate Districts 12 and 22:

You matter more than you think.

On Tuesday, you will have the opportunity to reject calls for recall of Senators Holperin and Wirch.  You may feel that your vote is important because Senators Holperin and Wirch are good people and deserve to defeat recalls.  All true.  But election on Tuesday is about more than these two men.  And it is not as much about their challengers as it is about what these challengers stand for.

These days we are deciding serious questions.  Do we want to disband our social services or do we want to provide safety net and valuable services going forward, all with our tax dollars?  Do we turn our laws to corporations or will we remain the land of opportunity many not just a few?  Do we talk about the shared sacrifice or do we practice it?

These are not questions that matter only in districts 12 and 22 or Wisconsin.  Where our country goes from here and what will be our legacy to our children are universal questions. Personal freedoms and the ability for people to bargain collectively, which many took for granted, are in retreat and if not reversed will be in real jeopardy.

The nation and the world are watching to see what we do in Wisconsin for a reason. Before basic tenants of the social contract are restored, recalls need to be rejected and attack on Wisconsin needs to be stopped.  Voters of Districts 12 and 22, you can do that.  By casting your vote on Tuesday for Senators Holperin and Wirch, you will do your part.  Part which no one else can.

Remember, Tuesday recalls are not about Senators themselves because all Senators did the same thing - they stood together and left Wisconsin in protest.  That back bone many say is missing in the Democratic Party?   they showed it. There is a reason Wisconsin Democratic State Senators became known as the Heroic 14.

These recalls highlight the fact that Republicans are not missing an opportunity to take a seat or two back after the embarrassing losses they suffered last Tuesday.  Recalls also highlight the fact that only three Senators - Hansen, Holperin and Wirch became subjects of orchestrated campaigns.  Nowhere else did these attempts to recall elected officials for standing up and walking out of the room when Governor refused to negotiate or even discuss Budget Repair Bill, succeed.  And on Tuesday voters of these districts will determine where Wisconsin goes from here.

If the balance of power in the senate remains as it stands now, there is hope that with Senators Cullen and Schultz this plane can somehow come out of the nosedive that we are in.  Latest polls indicate that Senator Holperin has a substantial lead over his challenger, which is encouraging.  But celebration will take place on Tuesday night, after you vote to give Wisconsin and country a chance to make things right.  Vote for Holperin and Wirch on Tuesday.

  1. Are you kidding me? You claim to be unbiased and then spew this Socialist crap? It's not the basic tenants of the social contract, it's basic tenants of the SOCIALIST contract. You call running away from the issues having a backbone? I call it running away. I hope Wisconsin is awarded their freedom from these immature "politicians". Take your state back Wisconsin! I am rooting for you.

  2. When did I claim to be unbiased? Observant, perhaps, open minded for sure but unbiased? Don't think so.
